After receiving my PhD in Art Education from the University of Illinois in 2008, I joined art education faculty at the University of South Carolina where I teach courses in popular culture, intersectionality, and critical pedagogy; integrating digital media and technologies in art education; and children's art and visual culture. I am also an affiliate of the Women's and Gender Studies (WGST) program and serve as a Director of the WGST's Women's Well-Being Initiative. I have been conducting art and media making workshops for adjudicated girls in greater Columbia, SC since 2009. My research interests include girlhood studies, feminist intersectionality, youth criminalization, feminist and anti-carceral pedagogies, and youth digital media making as civic engagement.
